We are bridging people together for community, support, well-being, and the greater good. We are better together.
Our Mission:
Community, support, and connection are necessary for well-being and loneliness has become an epidemic. Third places have been disappearing and divides amongst people have been growing. Individuals and families, especially children, would greatly benefit from connections and friendships across generational divides and differences. Much of our population is aging, and they have immense value within community as elders with gifts and knowledge to share. Proper social support is necessary for the health of our communities and bridging divides makes lasting impactful change for us all. This isn’t just a “band aid” organization, this is an organization that wants to provide a solution and systemic change.
Who we Bridge Together:
Currently, we are bridging together older adults and younger adult individuals/families, with a particular focus on families with children connecting with community elders.
How we Bridge Together:
Are you an older adult with gifts and knowledge to share? Are you an older adult, a younger adult individual, or family that can provide company, friendship, and conversation? Are you a family with children and limited access to elder community members? Are you an elder community member without grandchildren? Maybe, you just want to meet community members different from yourself, build community, bridge generational divides, and tackle the loneliness epidemic?
Perhaps, you are an elder community member who could visit the home of a recently postpartum family and make them freshly cooked meals? Play games or do crafts with teens/children?
Perhaps, you are a younger adult individual or family who can commit to taking an elder out to an activity, such as a garden stroll or a movie?
You create an account and We Bridge Together will facilitate connection.
Meet our Founder/Director:
Lindsay Scott (She/Her)
Linds holds a B.S. from The Pennsylvania State University and an A.A.S. from Tompkins Cortland Community College. She also has completed certifications and programs in End of Life Care, Meditation, and Mindfulness from institutions such as the University of Vermont (in partnership with the Osher Center for Integrative Health) and the Mindfulness Center at Brown University. Throughout her schooling, she devoted much of her studies to human behavior, family systems, community building, social prescribing (with a particular focus on aging populations), cultural differences, the concept of “othering,” unconscious/conscious bias, and how the body responds to trauma/stress. As a lifelong learner, Linds is in the process of continuing her studies.
Linds is originally from the Northeast U.S. and has called South Seattle home since 2021. She has never felt a greater sense of belonging and being at home anywhere else. As a mother of three children, and a member of “the sandwich generation,”she is exceptionally aware of the need for community and support. She is also greatly aware of the division and loneliness impacting communities.Through another organization, she has experience facilitating support groups that bring others together to foster community and support. She believes this community work is inspirational and essential. She is determined to facilitate connection, bring people together, and bridge divides through We Bridge Together.
